Official Rules 2008
General Information
Rules will be in place with regards to completing
the event on a Police Motor Cycle outfitted for Law Enforcemnt duty.
1.Four Police Motorcycle Divisions:
FLH and ROAD KING will be seperated.
Harley-Davidson Police model
motorcycles that are currently outfitted for duty. Does not include Dyna-Glide. No modifications to the stock motorcycle are
allowed that would not be on it for duty. Windscreens and saddle bags must remain in place.
RT 1200's and RT 1150's will be seperated
BMW police model motorcycles that are currently outfitted for duty. No modifications to the
stock motorcycle are allowed that would not be on it for duty. Windscreens and saddle bags must remain in place. Does not
include GS-650.
Honda ST police motorcycles, currently outfitted for duty. No modifications to the stock motorcycle are allowed that
would not be on it for duty. Windscreens and saddle bags must remain in place. Does not include any other Honda motorcycles
outfitted for police duty.
- Any other motorcycle outfitted for police
duty, that does not fit into the above categories (All dual-sports, special models, etc.) can be ridden in their
own class during the competition portion of the event as long as there are at least three of the same style motorcycle.
It will be at the discretion of the event Judge to place a motorcycle into a given category, if it does not conform to
the basic standards of a given class.
2. The event is open to
all Law Enforcement Officers who are currently certified on the Police Motorcycle and currently working as a motor officer.
This event does not certify officers to ride police motorcycles.
3.
Riders must wear a duty uniform on Saturday. Boots, helmets and eye protection are required at all times during the event
and while practicing.
4. Motorcycles must be operating properly with no
excessive or obvious oil leaks or mechanical problems, all motorcycles are subject to a mechanical inspection at the discretion
of the event Judge.
5 All riders are responsible for the behavior
of family and friends present at the event.
6. Any and all protests, arguements,
conflicts, etc. will be handled through the event Judge. (a special board of officers may be appointed to look into any
training issues or event conflicts)
7.All decisions are final, once the event
Judge has made a ruling.
8. Modifications for the specific purpose
of the event are not allowed.
9. Repair time is allowed (5 mins.) or motorcycle replacement
if necessary prior to starting the event. If a break-down occurs while completing the pattern the event judge will determine
if it was caused by the riders skill or motorcycle malfunction possibly allowing the rider to re-ride the pattern. (clutch
failure is not an excuse for a re-ride).
10. Each rider
will be given a number and it must be displayed in a visible location on the front of the motorcycle. Entries must be received
by June 1st 2008.
11. The Admin. Class is new and will be open to Lt.'s and above.
This will be an open class and any of the above listed motorcycles can be entered.
12. Riders wishing to compete
in more than one class can do so. There will be a $10 entry fee for each additional class. (Sign up for additional
classes at registration)
13. There will be a timed course event held at The Carson/Tahoe Harley-Davidson Dealer
paved motorcycle training area (maps will be provided at registration). Starting at 1500hrs on Friday. These
patterns will be open all day friday for practice. We will have one timed run for all competitors. Running in this event will
give you time off your final average on Saturday.
Team Event (Main Course)
1. Team event riders must be on like motorcycles of 750cc or higher displacement, they must be from the same agency.
2. Team event procedure will be announced the day of the event.
3. Two riders make a team.
4. If a rider is the only one from their respective agency they may team up
with another single rider from a different agency. There will be no rider shopping.
5. This will be a timed
event in which riders will work as a team to make it through the course in the quickest time with a minimal amount of penalties.
6. Riders may be required to perform job related tasks.
Obstacle Course(Individual)
1.Riders will complete an obstacle challenge. Individual riders will
attempt to manuever through a set of obstacles and various cone patterns.
Main Course Event
1. This is a timed, single rider course, the fastest time through the set of patterns wins.
2. Time penalties will be assessed as follows:
Moving
a cone from its location w/o knocking the cone down = 1 sec
Knocking
a cone down = 2 sec.
Putting a foot
down = 2 sec.
Stopping in a pattern and using your feet to move the motorcycle
backwards = 5 sec.
Riding out of a pattern and not re-entering from the
start of the pattern to complete the pattern = D/Q.
Falling
Over Dropping the Motorcycle = (no penalty, the faster you pick it up the less time you'll lose.)
Not completing a pattern = D/Q.
Other penalties will be assessed on a case by case basis if necessary.
3. 1st thru 3rd place prizes will be given for each class.
4. For 2008 there will be three runs per class, the slowest
run will be thrown out and the two fastest runs will be averaged for an overall time.
Last Man Standing (Individual)
This event was
such a huge success and crowd favorite that we will be bringing it back in 2008. There will be a practice area set up for
this event. There will be a training area for this event set up at the Harley Davidson training area as well.
1.This
will be a bracketed event for the individual portion in which 2 riders will enter the pattern moving in a safe and slow
manner, the object is to keep from putting your foot down, hitting any cones, not touching another motorcycle, or falling
over.
2. A rider will be DQ'd for intentionally hitting another motorcycle.
3. During the first round
the top two motorcycles will transfer to the subsequent rounds, ultimatly ending with 5 finalists. These 5 will compete for
the top 5 positions.
4. Exact bracketing will be determined based on the number of entry's.
5. Like motorcycles
will compete against like motorcycles. (Harley v.Harley and BMW's v. BMW's, Honda v. Honda, etc.)
Training
This date is set up so that riders can familiarize themselves with the course and patterns as well as practice skills
and learn new techniques, it is highly encouraged that instructors work with riders from different agencies and participants
share information and techniques. The competition portion is fun but the main focus is to become better at what we do. Training
is of utmost importance. This course is now Nevada P.O.S.T. certified and you will receive credit for attendance and completion
but you must take part in all portions of the event.
1. Training date
is Friday June 20th.
2. Some tools, air and other items will be available
if needed. Mechanics will be on scene on both days of the event.
